Turns out my husband is smarter than I thought. 7 yrs into Azheimers and he still has cognitive reserve. He is a retired internist 11 yrs ago. He still remembers a lot of his medical knowledge (his judgement is impaired). He was a ham radio operator since 12 and still remembers his morse code. His family was strong on linguistics and grammar and he still corrects someone, especially me when he hears an error. He still beats me at scrabble. What can I read re his trajectory &that of smart

Dementia doesn’t change our intelligence! It just makes us lose some of the gains we’ve made as adults.
