Thank you for this blog. My father was diagnosed over 7 years ago and in that time I have lost my father many times. As he declines I get to know who he is as he enters the next phase in his life. This blog has helped me come to terms as we now enter the final stages. He no longer knows who I am, at best he thinks I am my mom when they were first married, but that makes him happy too so I will be whoever he wants me to be.

Thank you for writing in! He knows that he loves you and THAT is the most important thing. His timeline is confusing to him, so it makes sense that he is assigning you a different identity.
