story: my great-grandma had dementia and the first time i met her she thought i was my mom & profoundly apologized for the fights they used to have when she was little (but to her they were recent). i stood in my moms place, assuring my great-grandma that everything was alright & all was forgiven. when i told my mom, she cried & thanked me for giving her that peace of mind. my great grandma passed about 2 months later, and my mom still thanks me for getting her that closure in her final time.

That’s a great story. You did the right thing. Thank you for sharing!
