My wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s four years ago, although I had seen symptoms several years before that. I’ve done all I can, and it’s too difficult for me to continue to be her (almost) only caregiver, so I’m going to have to put her in a LTC facility (memory unit of an assisted-living facility) soon. We downsized and moved into an apartment three years ago. Will bringing her to the apartment (where I will be living) when I take her out for a ride be upsetting to her?

It COULD be. Chances are good that it would be confusing for her to visit her old apartment, and may raise questions like, “Wait, where do you live? Where do I live? Why?” It’s worth a try, but definitely wait a while (a couple months) and let her get adjusted before trying. Also, make sure you read my book! It’s all about this topic!
