Should you tell a loved one with dementia who is living in an assisted living facility that you are selling their house if they have repeatedly told you not to do so? Or do you just do it and hope they never find out? Do you lie if asked about the house after it is gone? Such a difficult step, and the guilt has got me “paralyzed” from moving forward with what needs to be done.

NO no no never tell that person you sold their house. You did what you had to do. Yes, if they ask about it, what you are going to do is say what is true in THEIR reality: the house is still there. In fact, if it makes you feel better, say that. “The house is still there.” It is still there, it’s just sold.
